I just wanted to say 'thank you' to the Carmilla cast and crew and wasn't sure where else to put this message.
To the little web series that DID!
10 years ago, as a newly out young queer person I never would have believed that strong female leads in the LGBTQI+ community (both in front of the camera and behind it) would break through the bullshit of the stage and screen industry and achieve what has been achieved here.
Carmilla, Clexacon, The Gay Women Channel, and so many other spaces absolutely do smash through that bullshit glass ceiling. Over the past few years, all throughout the 'Carmilla' journey, I have felt lucky to be alive to see this time of change. I've shed a tear or two over the fiction, but many more because of the reality. That change is happening NOW! And you are a part of that. We will always back you, but we can't do it without you wonderful creators and artists.
Thank you for working so damn hard to create such great content. We love the characters and story and also the changes you are helping to make to the industry. I know it takes money and time every day to write and co-ordinate and negotiate and I appreciate every minute that you wonderful people put in to that.
It is heartening to feel more accurately represented on screen and acknowledged as equally valid and interesting as hetero-normative characters.
Writers, crew and cast: we love you dearly. You're rad as hell!
From Australia with love,
Roman :)
